I just saw your question regarding Spanish food and what to do with students.
I would have to give students a vocabulary list with all the foods. They might not know what jamón serrano or ibérico is and probably think that a tortilla is the shell of a Mexican taco. They think that all Hispanic foods are alike. I know I did the first time I went to Spain as a college student. That's where I'd start. I have not seen all the episodes from Spain...On The Road Again, but I look for them every week. I do have the book and it's an interesting read.
Thanks! Please explore. I have notes, flashcards, audios, exercises, lesson plans, videos . . . Let me know any feedback you have :))
My teaching method relies heavily on my usage of flashcards. I have a dozen staple activities and I'm always coming up w/ more. Check out how I teach direct object pronouns: http://www.quia.com/mc/1456435.html. I also do conjugations w/o English translations: http://seventhgradefrench.wikispaces.com/Avoir
